About AKC Recipes
We started in 2014 with one goal: recipes that work the first time, for people cooking in ordinary kitchens with ordinary ingredients. Today the site holds more than 100,000 of them, all free.
What we believe
A recipe is a promise. If it says 25 minutes, it should take 25 minutes. If it says four servings, four adults should be full. If it says “until golden,” it should tell you how long that usually takes and what to look for.
That is why every recipe on AKC is cooked at least twice before it is published — once by the writer and once by a second cook who follows only the written words. If the second cook has a question, the recipe goes back for another draft.
We do not lock recipes behind a paywall, we do not require an app, and we do not bury the ingredients under 2,000 words of story. The recipe is at the top, with a jump link, every time.
How the site is funded
AKC Recipes is free to read and always will be. We earn revenue from advertising and from a small number of affiliate links to kitchen tools we actually use and would buy again. Advertisers never see or influence recipes, and we say clearly when a link is an affiliate link. Details are in our Editorial Policy.
The test kitchen
Our test kitchen is in Chicago’s West Loop: a home-sized kitchen with a standard gas range, a conventional electric oven, one good pan and the same supermarket ingredients you can buy. If a recipe needs special equipment, we say so in the first line.
