Editorial Policy

This Editorial Policy explains how AKC Recipes chooses, tests, funds and corrects the recipes it publishes.

Recipe Testing

Every recipe is cooked at least twice before publication: once by the writer, and once by a second cook who follows only the written instructions in a standard home kitchen with supermarket ingredients. Recipes that raise questions in the second test are revised and retested.

Editorial Independence

Advertisers, sponsors and affiliate partners have no role in choosing, writing or testing recipes. Sponsored content, when it appears, is labeled “Sponsored” at the top of the page.

Affiliate Links

We link to kitchen tools and ingredients we use ourselves. Some links earn us a commission at no extra cost to you, and are marked with a note near the link. We never recommend a product because of the commission.

Use of Software

Recipes are written and tested by people. We use software for nutrition calculations, spell-checking and site search, not for writing recipes.

Corrections

When a reader reports an error, we retest the step, correct the recipe and add a note with the date of the update. Report errors through the contact page.

Sources & Credit

Recipes adapted from a cookbook, chef or reader are credited on the page. Ingredient lists are not copyrightable, but we do not copy another publisher’s instructions or images.
